Two to three spot fires erupted Wednesday on the west end of Perris, altogether burning roughly two acres before crews got the cluster partially contained.

The non-injury blazes were reported about 11:30 a.m. in the area of Arapahoe and Geronimo roads, just north of Highway 74, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Seven engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames from each fire moving at a slow rate in medium density vegetation.

No homes or other structures were immediately threatened. Fire officials said the blazes were bounded by roads on every side, limiting how far they could burn.

By 11:50 a.m., crews were making steady progress encircling the blazes. There was no immediate word on how they started.
