A cluster of spot fires that erupted Wednesday on the west end of Perris scorched just over two acres and injured a cat.

The blazes were reported about 11:30 a.m. in the area of Arapahoe and Geronimo roads, just north of Highway 74, and were completely contained at 12:20 p.m., according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

No homes or other structures were damaged. However, a cat was found near burned vegetation with unspecified injuries and was turned over to Department of Animal Services personnel for veterinary care, according to reports from the scene.

The cause of the fires was under investigation.
