A 21-year-old man was fatally injured when his ATV collided with a car at a Jurupa Valley intersection, authorities said Monday.

Jakob Villasenor of Bloomington died Sunday after the crash at 20th Street and Rubidoux Boulevard, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Officials said that Villasenor was riding a quad on city streets about 4:30 p.m. and approached the intersection at the same time as a 2014 Honda Accord.

“The investigation indicates the rider of the off-road vehicle was traveling westbound on 20th … and collided with the Honda driving southbound on Rubidoux,” according to a sheriff’s statement.

Villasenor suffered catastrophic injuries and was taken to Riverside Community Hospital, where he died less than an hour later.

The two occupants of the Honda, whose identities were not disclosed, escaped injury.

The intersection was shut down for several hours while an investigation was conducted and the wreckage was cleared, officials said.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the sheriff’s Jurupa Valley station at 951-955-2600.
