A blaze tore through a single-wide trailer in a mobile home park in Beaumont Tuesday, destroying the structure and knocking out power to the park, affecting more than 20 residents.
The non-injury fire was reported shortly before 9 a.m. in the 900 block of Edgar Avenue, near Ninth Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames raging inside the single-wide mobile home, which was unoccupied.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze minutes later, preventing damage to neighboring units. However, because of the damage and exposure risks to electrical transmission lines within the park, power was shut down, impacting a total of five occupied mobile homes, officials said.
Red Cross personnel were summoned to assist 10 adults, 11 children and six dogs impacted by the electrical outage, according to the fire department.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
