The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County changed by two-tenths of a cent or less for the fifth time in six days, rising one-tenth of a cent Saturday to $4.267.

The average price rose two-tenths of a cent Friday and four-tenths of a cent Thursday and dropped one-tenth of a cent Wednesday and two-tenths of a cent Monday and Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 1 cent higher than one week ago, 9.2 cents more than one month ago and $1.16 greater than a year ago.

The average price has risen $1.09 since the start of the year to its highest amount since May 5, 2014, because of a sharp increase in the oil price and higher demand due to more people driving to work, according to Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
