Cleanup from a fuel spill from a tanker rollover on Interstate 10 in Banning entered its third day Thursday.

The solo vehicle crash was reported around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, prompting the full closure of the Interstate 10 between Ramsey and Eighth streets to remove the wreckage and allow hazardous materials crews to work the scene, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Caltrans opened and closed east and westbound lanes on Interstate 10 intermittently throughout Tuesday in order to clean up spillage and offload the wreckage.

Caltrans announced at 4:48 p.m. Thursday that fuel cleanup is expected to impact the Hargrave Street on-ramp from eastbound Interstate 10. Closures of the Eighth Street and Ramsey Street on-ramps to Interstate 10 were possible as needed, officials said.

No time was given as to when the fuel cleanup work was expected to be completed.

Caltrans recommended the use of alternate routes during the closures.
