Riverside County reported more than 800 new coronavirus cases and an additional 18 virus-related deaths, according to the latest data.
Figures released Thursday by the Riverside University Health System also show the number of COVID hospitalizations countywide was 601, down 16 from Wednesday, while the number of intensive care patients being treated for the virus decreased to 130, down two from Wednesday.
The aggregate number of COVID cases recorded in Riverside County since the pandemic began in March 2020 stood at 342,576, an increase of 816 from Wednesday.
A total of 4,806 deaths from virus-related complications have been recorded in the last 18 months in the county. The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates, according to health officials.
The number of known active virus cases in the county was 7,871 on Thursday, down 762 from Wednesday. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 342,576 — according to the county Executive Office. Verified patient recoveries countywide totaled 329,899.
