Riverside County is expected to release updated coronavirus data Monday — following the most recent numbers showing 980 new COVID cases and an additional 20 virus-related deaths.
Those figures were released Friday by the Riverside University Health System. The county does not update its data on weekends.
The number of COVID hospitalizations countywide Friday was 575, down 26 from Thursday, while the number of intensive care patients being treated for the virus increased to 135, up five from the day before, according to the RUHS.
The aggregate number of COVID cases recorded in Riverside County since the pandemic began in March 2020 stood at 343,556 Friday, an increase of 980 from Thursday.
A total of 4,826 deaths from virus-related complications have been recorded in the past 18 months in the county. The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates, according to health officials.
The number of known active virus cases in the county was 7,274 on Friday, down 597 from Thursday. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 343,556 — according to the county Executive Office. Verified patient recoveries countywide totaled 331,456.
