A 25-year-old man was struck and killed by a motorist who became incapacitated while driving along an Eastvale street, authorities said Tuesday.

Miguel Diaz Mendoza of Eastvale was fatally injured about 6:30 p.m. Monday in the 5200 block of Goodman Road, just south of Cantu-Galleano Ranch Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Officials said Mendoza was walking across a parking lot when the driver of a sedan, whose identity was not disclosed, experienced an unspecified medical emergency and allowed his car to veer off of Goodman, where it smashed through a metal fence around an Amazon warehouse and plowed into the victim.

Paramedics reached the location within a few minutes and pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene.

The driver and his passenger suffered minor injuries in the crash and were taken to a hospital for treatment, according to sheriff’s officials.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the sheriff’s Jurupa Valley station at 951-955-2600.
