North Shore residents will be able to dispose of green waste collected from the Aug. 30 storm for free Saturday.

Yard waste such as plant debris, leaves, branches and bushes are among the items allowed at the dropoff slated for Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon at the North Shore Beach & Yacht Club Community Center, at 99-155 Sea View Drive.

“This pickup is a continuation of cleanup efforts from the recent North Shore storm that broke apart many trees,” said Supervisor Manuel Perez.

“Following the storm, county crews removed debris off the public roads and many volunteers from Team Rubicon were able to clear massive tree debris that could potentially be a hazard. This cleanup will help residents dispose of any remaining green waste resulting from the storm and keep the community clean.”

The free event, hosted by Burrtec Waste & Recycling Services and assisted by The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources, will not accept green waste longer than three feet in length or six inches in diameter or any non-green waste such as household or hazardous waste.

Organizers specified that residents will need to unload their own items from their vehicles.
