The number of COVID-positive patients hospitalized in Riverside County continued to decline, while 379 new cases were confirmed and 10 new virus-related deaths were reported according to the latest data.
According to the Riverside University Health System, COVID-related hospitalizations countywide dropped to 243 Wednesday, compared to 268 on Tuesday. The number of those patients in intensive care was 61, down from 63 on Tuesday.
The cumulative number of COVID cases recorded since the pandemic began in March 2020 stood at 361,122 as of Wednesday, up from 360,743 on Tuesday.
Officials said on Wednesday a total 5,118 deaths from virus-related complications have been recorded in the past roughly 19 months. The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates and can go back a month, sometimes longer.
The number of known active virus cases countywide Wednesday was 3,322, down 175 from Tuesday. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 361,122 — according to the county Executive Office.
Verified patient recoveries countywide were 352,682.
