Reports of an armed man inside a Walmart in San Jacinto Monday prompted Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputies to evacuate the building and conduct a search.
The possible “active shooter” call was received about 5:45 p.m. at the store in the 1800 block of South San Jacinto Avenue, according to reports from the scene.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
It was unclear what led to the 911 call. Sheriff’s officials would only say that a search was underway as of 6:25 p.m.
County fire fighters were summoned and were staging in a nearby parking lot to the north, awaiting clearance to enter the premises or to return to their stations.
