A fire that erupted Wednesday in a mobile home on the north end of Sage destroyed the residence and threatened to spread into nearby vegetation before it was stopped.

The blaze was reported about 12:25 p.m. in the area of Osage and Red Mountain roads, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Multiple engine crews were sent to the location and found the doublewide engulfed in flames.

Occupants of the structure escaped, though one suffered unspecified minor injuries, according to officials at the scene.

Firefighters got the blaze under control shortly after 1 p.m. and were expected to remain at the location, mopping up, until about 3 p.m., officials said.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
