Two SUV occupants were injured Friday, one fatally, when the vehicle plunged off of the 91/15 interchange in Corona, landing on a city street.
The crash happened about 4:30 p.m. as the SUV was transitioning from the eastbound Riverside (91) Freeway to the northbound Interstate 15 bridge, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said that the vehicle veered off of the transition for unknown reasons and came down on its front end at the intersection of Cresta Road and Parkridge Avenue.
Corona Fire Department paramedics reached the location within a few minutes and pronounced one of the occupants dead at the scene, while the other was taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to the CHP.
Neither party was identified.
No other vehicles were involved.
The intersection was partially closed because of the crash, which remains under investigation.
