The next phase of road work to expand the Coachella Valley Water District’s non-potable water distribution pipeline system in Palm Desert will begin Monday.

The construction starting Monday will be along Hovley Lane East between Washington Street and Cook Street, with plans to reach CVWD’s Water Reclamation Plant No. 10 in Palm Desert by early March, according to the utility.

Officials advised the public to expect periodic lane closures over the course of construction, but one lane in each direction will be open at all times.

The construction is part of CVWD’s non-potable water distribution pipeline and will connect the Bermuda Dunes, Oasis, Palm Desert Resort and Woodhaven country clubs. The expansion of the pipeline will allow the soon-to-be-connected country clubs to utilize canal water and recycled water rather than groundwater for their irrigation.

The Coachella Valley Water District provides water for approximately 108,000 homes and businesses mostly in Riverside County.
