Riverside County has reported 462 new cases of COVID-19 and 19 additional deaths.

The number of coronavirus patients hospitalized in the county decreased to 250 Friday, down from 257 on Thursday, according to the Riverside University Health System. The number of those patients in intensive care was 61, down from 69 one day prior.

The cumulative number of COVID cases recorded since the pandemic began in March 2020 stood at 372,340, up from 371,878 Thursday.

A total of 5,372 deaths from virus-related complications have been recorded in the county in roughly the past 20 months. The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates and can date back a month or longer.

The number of known active virus cases countywide Friday was 3,464 — up 49 from Thursday. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 372,340 — according to the county’s Executive Office.
