A total of 5,372 deaths from virus-related complications have been recorded in the county in roughly the past 20 months, the same as Friday. The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates and can date back a month or longer.

The number of known active virus cases countywide Monday was 2,943 — down 521 from Friday. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 372,782 — according to the county’s Executive Office.
