Riverside County reported 450 new cases of COVID-19 and 11 new virus-related deaths Wednesday, but coronavirus hospitalizations remained the same.

The number of COVID patients hospitalized in the county was 238 Wednesday, the same as Tuesday, according to the Riverside University Health System. The number of those patients in intensive care was 61, up from 55 the previous day.

The cumulative number of COVID cases recorded since the pandemic began in March 2020 stood at 377,238, up from 376,788 on Tuesday.

A total of 5,458 deaths from virus-related complications have been recorded in the county in roughly the past 20 months. The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates and can date back a month or longer.

The number of known active virus cases countywide on Wednesday was 3,777 — down 192 from Tuesday, according to the Riverside University Health System. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 377,238 — according to the county’s Executive Office.

Verified patient recoveries countywide were 368,003.
