Riverside County reported 388 new cases of COVID-19 and 12 new virus-related deaths Thursday, with coronavirus hospitalizations having only slightly increased.
The number of COVID patients hospitalized in the county was 239 Thursday, up from 238 on Wednesday, according to the Riverside University Health System. The number of those patients in intensive care was 63, up from 61 the previous day.
The cumulative number of COVID cases recorded since the pandemic began in March 2020 stood at 377,626, up from 377,238 on Wednesday.
A total of 5,470 deaths from virus-related complications have been recorded in the county in roughly the past 20 months. The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates and can date back a month or longer.
The number of known active virus cases countywide on Thursday was 3,602 — down 175 from Wednesday, according to the Riverside University Health System. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 377,626 — according to the county’s Executive Office.
Verified patient recoveries countywide were 368,554.
