An investigation into the death of a 45-year-old bicyclist fatally struck on a Jurupa Valley street was ongoing Thursday, with authorities asking anyone who might have information to come forward.
Jason Navoy of Jurupa Valley was fatally injured in the 8000 block of Mission Boulevard, near Tyrolite Street, about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Officials said that Navoy was bicycling eastbound on Mission when he was approached from behind by the driver of a compact sedan.
The motorist, whose identity was not disclosed, ran into the victim, but the circumstances were unclear.
Paramedics reached the location within five minutes and pronounced Navoy dead at the scene.
According to the sheriff’s department, deputies questioned the driver, who was not hurt and stopped immediately after hitting the bicyclist.
The man was not arrested, but officials said the investigation remains active, and they’re seeking potential witnesses.
