The number of COVID-positive patients in Riverside County hospitals has soared past 600, increasing by 63 people to 658 Tuesday, according to the latest state figures.
The number of those patients in intensive care dropped to 94, down from 101 on Monday.
With 1,818 new cases of COVID-19 reported since Monday, the county’s aggregate number since the pandemic began in March 2020 now stands at 406,421, according to data released by the Riverside University Health System.
The RUHS also reported zero virus-related deaths since Monday leaving the county’s death total to 5,589 from virus-related complications in the past 21 months.
The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates and can go back weeks, according to health officials.
The number of known active virus cases in the county was 13,047 as of Tuesday. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 406,421. Verified patient recoveries countywide are 387,785.
