Pipeline work along a quarter-mile section of road in Palm Desert will require at least one lane to be shut down along the corridor Tuesday, translating to travel delays.

According to the Coachella Valley Water District, crews hired by the utility will be working on Hovley Lane East, between Indian Ridge and Oasis Club drives, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

“Portions of the westbound lane will be closed,” according to a CVWD statement. “Closures will be marked, and at least one lane will remain open. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if possible.”

The project entails connecting four golf courses on or near Hovley to the CVWD’s non-potable water system, and laying the new pipe necessitates periodic lane or road closures, officials said.

According to the district, construction is on schedule and should be close to completion in the first half of March.
