The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose to a record high Sunday for the fourth consecutive day, increasing four-tenths of a cent to $4.706.

The average price has risen 18 of the past 21 days, increasing 11.3 cents, including four-tenths of a cent Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

It is 3.3 cents more than one week ago, 10.2 cents higher than one month ago and $1.168 greater than one year ago.

The record highs follow a 53.73% increase from one year ago to the price of a barrel of West Texas intermediate crude on the New York Mercantile Exchange to $91.07. Crude oil costs account for slightly more than half of the pump price, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
