A tractor-trailer overturned on Interstate 215 in Riverside Wednesday in a crash involving three other vehicles, leaving at least one person injured and blocking all southbound lanes.
The wreck happened at about 10 a.m. in the middle of southbound I-215, near University Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said the big rig went over and struck an Audi, as well as two SUVs, though the circumstances behind the crash were not immediately clear.
Riverside Fire Department crews reached the location within a few minutes and discovered one motorist with unspecified injuries.
All lanes were blocked, prompting a Sigalert because of the ensuing traffic jam. As of 10:30 a.m., CHP officers managed to open up the slow lane, but the other three southbound lanes remained closed, according to reports from the scene.
The CHP estimated that the lane closures would remain in effect until at least noon.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
