A tractor-trailer and SUV collided Thursday at a Jurupa Valley intersection, leaving the driver of the smaller vehicle seriously injured.

The crash happened just after 5 a.m. at Etiwanda and Inland avenues, within a warehousing district north of the Pomona (60) Freeway, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and found the driver of the SUV trapped in the wreckage.

He was extricated a few minutes later and taken to a Riverside-area hospital for treatment of major injuries, officials said.

The trucker suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

Sheriff’s deputies were investigating the cause of the crash.
