One person was killed and two were injured Thursday in a collision in San Jacinto involving a big rig and sedan.
The crash happened about 9:50 a.m. on Soboba Road near Gilman Springs Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said that the semi overturned onto the car, but no other details were available.
Riverside County Fire Department crews reached the location within minutes and initiated an extrication operation to rescue the occupants of the smaller vehicle.
One person who was removed from the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Another person suffered moderate injuries, and a third had minor injuries, according to the fire department.
They were taken to a regional trauma center for treatment.
Both sides of Soboba were blocked at the location by the overturned big rig, which the CHP was still working to remove at 11:30 a.m.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
