Warmer-than-average temperatures and dry conditions were increasing the fire danger in Riverside County this weekend.
Saturday was expected to be the hottest day of the week with highs topping out at eight to 20 degrees above normal and low humidity levels, according to the National Weather Service.
Highs Saturday were expected to be 105 degrees in Thermal, 105 in Palm Springs, 97 in Hemet, 97 in Riverside, 96 in Lake Elsinore and 92 in Beaumont.
An onshore flow was predicted to cause gusty conditions Saturday afternoon through the passes and on the desert slopes, increasing Sunday afternoon through Monday.
Slight cooling was forecast for Monday and Tuesday and some warming is possible Wednesday, but overall daytime highs will be near or slightly above average through the middle of next week, the NWS said.
