The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose Sunday to its highest amount since April 2, increasing 3.4 cents to $5.903.

The average price has risen 18 consecutive days, increasing 19.8 cents, including 4.2 cents Saturday, its largest one-day increase since March 19, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 10.8 cents more than one week ago, 16.7 cents higher than one month ago and $1.823 greater than one year ago. It is 6.8 cents less than the record high of $5.971 set March 29.

The national average price rose 1.8 cents to a record $4.47, erasing the previous record set Saturday.
