The number of COVID-positive hospital patients in Riverside County decreased by five people to 75, according to the latest state figures.

The number of those patients in intensive care was six, one more than Friday’s total.

About one month ago, 55 people were hospitalized throughout the county with a COVID infection, six of whom were ICU patients.

The Riverside University Health System said Friday that the aggregate number of COVID cases recorded since the public health documentation period began in March 2020 is 607,810.

The RUHS said a total 6,532 deaths from virus-related complications have been recorded during the pandemic. A week ago, the figure was 6,527. The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates and can go back weeks, according to officials.

The number of known active virus cases in the county, based on available data, is 2,375, compared to 1,903 one week ago. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 607,810 — according to the county Executive Office. Verified patient recoveries countywide are now 598,903.

The RUHS does not report COVID data on weekends.
