A firefighter injured when a Cal Fire helicopter assigned to the Fairview Fire crashed in Banning was released from a hospital, authorities said Sunday.
The other two people injured in the crash — a firefighter and the pilot — were still being treated, but are expected to recover, officials said.
The helicopter crashed at 3:52 p.m. Saturday. Authorities said the aircraft was attempting to land at Banning Municipal Airport, but crashed in the backyard of a private residence.
There was no damage to the residence and no injuries to anyone on the ground, according to a Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson.
The three occupants of the helicopter were two Cal Fire workers and a pilot.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
