The number of people hospitalized with coronavirus in Riverside County has dropped by 13 to 64, according to the latest state data.
Of those patients hospitalized as of Saturday, five were being treated in intensive care, down from six the previous day.
One month ago, 91 people were hospitalized throughout the county with a COVID infection, 15 of whom were ICU patients, according to the Riverside University Health System.
The total number of deaths from likely virus-related complications over the past 31 months stands at 6,569. The figure was 6,561 the previous week, and it was 6,543 three weeks earlier after being revised down 1% as a result of a data reassessment by the California Department of Public Health.
The RUHS said the process of “reconciling” death records is ongoing.
The agency released preliminary data earlier this month showing that, among those who died while hospitalized with a COVID diagnosis in September, 100% were fully vaccinated with a SARS-CoV-2 therapeutic. However, health officials noted that the data are provisional and subject to revision. Updated figures are expected to be published next week.
RUHS revised data for August indicated that, among those who died while hospitalized with a COVID diagnosis during the month, 20% were fully vaccinated.
The deaths weren’t classified as stemming directly from an infection, co-morbidities, or possible adverse reactions to the vaccines.
Health officials said the aggregate number of COVID cases recorded since the public health documentation period began in March 2020 is 697,500.
The county does not report COVID data on weekends.
