California Highway Patrol investigators Tuesday were trying to ferret out additional clues that might help them identify the motorist who gunned down a 32-year-old driver on Interstate 215 in Moreno Valley.

Thomas Galloway II of Hemet was fatally shot at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday on southbound I-215 at Cactus Avenue, according to the CHP.

Officer Dan Olivas said Galloway was shot several times during an unspecified confrontation with another motorist, who was at the wheel of a black sedan, which raced away from the location.

Witnesses called 911 after Galloway’s Jeep Grand Cherokee came to rest in the center median, Olivas said.

He said patrol officers and Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the location within minutes, at which point the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

A possible motive remains unknown.

Anyone with information about the incident was urged to contact the CHP’s Inland Division at 909-806-2400.
