The Coachella Valley Firebirds will begin their inaugural Pride Weekend with Saturday evening’s game against the San Jose Barracuda.

The American Hockey League team will wear special Pride jerseys in both Saturday’s 6 p.m. game and Sunday’s 3 p.m. game against the Ontario Reign. Each jersey had a bid of at least $290 as of Friday.

The weekend will also feature in-game Pride elements with support from female and male impersonators, educational messaging, and LGBTQ+ puck drop ambassadors Asher Bisgaard of Palm Springs Pride Saturday and KESQ anchor Peter Daut Sunday.

Pride Fest on the Plaza will take place both days starting two hours before the opening faceoff. Events include live music from KGAY DJs Galaxy on Saturday and ModGirl on Sunday along with a festive photo opportunities, food and drink specials in the Acrisure Arena Beer Garden and vendor booths.
