The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County increased three-tenths of a cent Sunday to $4.37.
The average price is 1.8 cents less than one week ago, 1.6 cents lower than one month ago and 23.6 cents cheaper than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $2.003 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5.
“The heavy rainstorms of the past week throughout California depressed gas demand, which helped to lower pump prices,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager. “Also, the Energy Information Administration reported Wednesday that West Coast fuel inventory has increased.”
The national average price increased for the fourth consecutive day following a five-day streak of decreases, rising six-tenths of a cent to $3.30. It is 1.9 cents more than one week ago and 10.7 cents higher than one month ago, but six-tenths of a cent less than one year ago.
The national average price is $1.716 lower than the record $5.016 set June 14.
