Johnny Mathis is set to take the stage Saturday evening at the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage as part of his Voice of Romance Tour.
Mathis’ concert will be held at 8 p.m. in The Show venue at the casino, located at 32-250 Bob Hope Drive. It will be the 88-year-old crooner’s 11th concert at the venue.
“A sublime vocalist whose approach to pop music eclipses passing fads and trends, Mathis has performed songs in an incredible variety of styles and categories, from music composed for stage and film to golden era jazz standards, contemporary pop hits, and holiday music, all of which has assured his reputation as one of the most enduring vocalists in music history,” casino officials wrote in a statement last year.
Mathis, who has recorded 73 studio albums and sold millions of records worldwide, is known for songs such as “Chances Are,” “It’s Not For Me To Say” and “Misty.” He has had three songs inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, received five Grammy nominations, and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in 2003.
Mathis has had 50 hits on Billboard’s adult contemporary chart.
