The city of Riverside is hosting its 12th annual Lunar Festival this weekend, celebrating the year of the dragon and arrival of the lunar new year in Asian American communities.
The festival will bring numerous performances and other cultural festivities to downtown Riverside. Admission is free for all ages.
Saturday’s festivities began at 11 a.m. along 3527-3573 Mission Ave., kicking off with a lion dance celebration performed by the San Gabriel Valley Chinese Cultural Association.
The festival will also feature performances by the Filipino Martial Arts School, Tang Arts, Dragon Phoenix Lion and Dragon Dance Team, Japanese dance performers and others.
Up to 150 food vendors and numerous local artisan marketplaces will be on hand.
Events take place until 8 p.m Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
