The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dipped one-tenth of a cent Sunday to $4.812, ending a streak of 15 consecutive increases that drove the average to its highest amount since Nov. 27.
The average price is 4.5 cents more than one week ago and 19.2 cents higher than one month ago, but 5.9 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.561 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price fell three-tenths of a cent for the second consecutive day, to $3.394. It is 4.8 cents more than one week ago and 21.1 cents higher than one month ago, but 8 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.622 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“Spring is nearly here, with longer days, better weather and more opportunities to hit the road,” said Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager. “And we are seeing this reflected in rising gasoline demand. But remember, we see this trend every year.”
