The Palm Springs Fire Department performed rescue operations for a hiker at Skyline Trailhead Wednesday.
Authorities received reports of a downed or injured hiker at around 12:05 p.m. Wednesday, department spokesman Ronald Skyberg told City News Service.
Two engine crews, one of which hiked the mountain with a medic squad, were dispatched to the trail near Palm Springs Museum. The hiker, a young woman, was dehydrated, but able to make contact with officers, Skyberg said.
The hiker was taken down to the neighboring O’Donnell Golf Club and transported to a local hospital. Skyberg estimated the woman’s ailments were “minor” and said she remained “alert and talking” prior to reaching the hospital.
