A hiker went down Friday on a trail on the north edge of Murrieta, requiring a rescue coordinated by several agencies.
The “hiker down” call was received at 12:05 p.m. Friday in the area of Gloria and Keller roads, just west of Interstate 215, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said at least one engine crew from the county was sent, as well as multiple crews from Murrieta Fire & Rescue, with additional aid from the sheriff’s department.
Few details were immediately available, with firefighters deploying for a remote area rescue around the Greer Ranch Trailhead, which straddles the boundary of Murrieta and Menifee and is popular among trekkers and mountain bikers.
As of 1:30 p.m., crews remained at the location, though it wasn’t clear whether the victim had been found and was in need of medical aid.
