The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped for the 12th consecutive day Saturday, decreasing 1.6 cents to $5.171.
The average price has fallen 11.9 cents over the past 12 days, including 1.5 cents Friday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 7.9 cents less than one week ago and 9.9 cents less than one month ago, but 39.9 cents more than one year ago.
The average price has dropped $1.202 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The national average price dropped 1 cent to $3.626. It is 3.3 cents less than one week ago and four-tenths of a cent less than one month ago, but 8.7 cents higher than one year ago. It has dropped $1.39 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“Tepid pre-Memorial Day domestic demand and oil costs below $80 a barrel are the likely reasons for the dropping prices nationally,” according to Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager. “Most consumers will probably see pump prices barely budging for now.”
