Riverside County is in for more triple-digit temperatures throughout the week, prompting the National Weather Service to issue an excessive heat watch in some areas.
The heat watch will be effective from 10 a.m. Sunday to at least 8 p.m. Friday in the areas of Palm Springs, Coachella, Palm Desert, Palm Desert Country, La Quinta, Cathedral City and Indio. Temperatures in these areas were expected to range from 110 to 118, according to the NWS.
“High temperatures will decrease slightly on Monday, but a much longer heat wave begins Tuesday with highs slowly increasing through next weekend,” forecasters said.
The Coachella Valley was expected to reach a high of 111 degrees on Sunday with overnight lows around 78.
Sunday’s temperatures will reach a high of about 100 in the Riverside metropolitan area, with lows in the mid-60s.
In the Temecula Valley, temperatures were expected to remain in the low 90s all weekend with overnight temperatures in the low 60s.
