A motorcyclist who was fatally injured in a collision at a San Jacinto intersection was identified Friday as a 25-year-old Perris man.
Jose Cornejo Casas was killed about 7:45 a.m. Thursday at East Seventh and Hewitt streets, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said that Casas’ motorcycle collided with a sedan, but no other details were available.
The victim was ejected onto the roadway, suffering catastrophic injuries. Riverside County Fire Department paramedics reached the location within 15 minutes and pronounced him dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries but declined to be taken to a hospital for further evaluation, according to the fire department.
CHP officers and sheriff’s deputies partially closed the intersection to conduct a preliminary investigation, and the closure was not lifted until just after 10 a.m. Thursday.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
