The Coachella Valley Firebirds announced the re-signing of forward Ian McKinnon for the upcoming 2024-25 season Thursday, according to a team statement.
The Firebirds, the Seattle Kraken’s American Hockey League affiliate, featured the 26-year-old McKinnon in 56 of its games over the last two seasons. Prior to his stint with the Firebirds, the Whitby, Ontario native played for the AHL’s Providence Bruins and elsewhere in Florida and Maine.
Prior to his professional career, McKinnon also played in the Ontario Hockey League for the London Knights and Mississauga Steelheads. He registered 18 goals and 11 assists in his lone season with the Ontario Junior Hockey League’s Whitby Fury.
