The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County increased one-tenth of a cent Sunday to $4.498.

The average price is 2.5 cents more than one week ago and six-tenths of a cent more than one month ago, but 84.5 cents less than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped $1.875 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped eight-tenths of a cent to $3.273, its 23rd decrease in the past 24 days. It is 6 cents less than one week ago, 18.2 cents less than one month ago and 53.5 cents less than one year ago. The national average price has dropped $1.743 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.

“There are now 10 states with gasoline averages below $3 a gallon, which means thousands of retail outlets east of the Rockies are selling gas at similarly low prices,” said Andrew Gross, an AAA national public relations manager. “With hurricane season remaining weak and disorganized, this trend of falling pump prices will likely continue.”
