A fire in a single-story house in Coachella Tuesday was extinguished in between 45 minutes to an hour.
The fire was reported shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Calendula Avenue and Hibisco Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. The first unit in the area noted smoke emanating from the dwelling.
Initially reported as abandoned, the structure was found to be occupied by four men, two women and one minor, according to the department update. Assistance from the Red Cross to provide housing was requested for all seven people.
The intersection was closed while crews worked on the fire.
