A brush fire that broke out Thursday just south of Perris scorched roughly an acre before crews knocked it down.

The non-injury “Barnett Fire” was reported at 11:34 a.m. in the area of Barnett and Ethanac roads, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames moving at a moderate rate through a field.

No homes or other structures were threatened.

Firefighters quickly deployed with hose lays, stopping the fire’s forward rate of spread about noon.

The brusher was nearing full containment by 12:30 p.m.

There was no immediate word regarding what might have triggered it.
