A motorist suffered minor injuries Tuesday when he crashed into a mountainside just off a Desert Hot Springs freeway.
The crash occurred shortly before 2:30 p.m. on eastbound state Route 62, just northeast of Indian Canyon Drive, according to California Highway Patrol records.
California Highway Patrol Officer David Torres said a 59-year-old man crashed an SUV into the hillside, causing debris to spill onto the road. The man was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries, Torres said.
Another vehicle was struck by the debris and temporarily blocked both eastbound lanes of the highway.
The road was reopened at about 4:10 p.m., according to CHP records.
