The average price of a gallon of self-service regular gasoline in Riverside County rose Saturday for the eighth time in nine days, increasing 1.4 cents to $4.456, one day after rising three-tenths of a cent.

The average price has increased 6.4 cents over the past nine days, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose five consecutive days, dropped two-tenths of a cent Wednesday and resumed increasing Thursday.

The average price is 3.8 cents more than one week ago but 3.9 cents less than one month ago and $1.265 lower than one year ago. It has dropped $1.917 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price dropped for the second consecutive day following a four-day streak of increases totaling 3.9 cents, decreasing a half-cent to $3.204. It is 2.7 cents more than one week ago, but 3.8 cents less than one month ago and 44.2 cents lower than one year ago.

The national average price has dropped $1.812 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
