The average price of a gallon of self-service regular gasoline in Riverside County dropped Friday to its lowest amount since Jan. 27, decreasing a half-cent to $4.383.
The average price has dropped 10 of the past 11 days, decreasing 5.9 cents, including 1.3 cents Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The average price dropped five consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent Sunday and resumed dropping Monday.
The average price is 3 cents less than one week ago, 2.1 cents lower than one month ago and 80.7 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.99 since rising to a record $6.373 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“We could be seeing pump prices in more Southern California areas drop to their lowest levels of the year in the coming days,” with stations allowed to sell winter blend gasoline, which is cheaper to produce, beginning Friday, said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
The national average price dropped nine-tenths of a cent to $3.122, one day after decreasing four-tenths of a cent. It is 2.2 cents less than one week ago, 8.2 cents lower than one month ago and 34 cents below what it was one year ago.
The national average price has dropped $1.894 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
