An asphalt paving project at the intersection of Frank Sinatra Drive and Bob Hope Drive started Friday, temporarily reducing traffic lanes in all directions.
In addition to the traffic reductions, left turns “may be restricted” and traffic signals will be flashing red between Friday and Monday, according to a Rancho Mirage Public Works Department statement.
The project, spearheaded by the Coachella Valley Water District, is intended to extend a regional non-potable water system into the city to connect to local golf courses, according to the statement.
City officials advised drivers to exercise caution while traveling through the area or use alternate routes, if possible.
